Our efforts to improve the Sanctuary would not be nearly as successful were it not for the help from our volunteers who devote their time and effort to the cause. The devotion from all of them is great, but some go above and beyond the call of duty and deserve to be recognized for their work.
The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Volunteer of the Year Award is our way of saying thank you to the many volunteers who take time out of their lives to make the Sanctuary a better place.
The Volunteer of the Year typically is involved in multiple sanctuary
programs and dedicates enormous amounts of time to further the efforts of
the sanctuary. These people are committed to educating others about the
sanctuary and its inhabitants. They are amazing examples of stewardship for
our natural resources.
