Get Involved With The Advisory Council
The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council (advisory council) is a community-based group that assures public participation in the management of the Sanctuary. The advisory council, established in 1994, is comprised of volunteers and members of other federal, state and local government entities. The advisory council advises management on any number of topics related to the Sanctuary and meets six times a year in various cities throughout the boundaries of the Sanctuary.
Volunteers for the advisory council are chosen through a recruitment process. Recruitments for the following seats are conducted every three years (or when a seat is vacated prior to completing a full three year term):
- At-large (3 seats)
- Business and Industry
- Commercial Fishing
- Recreational Fishing
All advisory council meetings are open to the public. If a seat on the advisory council does not appeal to you then you are welcome to provide your input by attending one of the meetings.
