BREAK
10:15 – 11:55 Continuing
evaluation of the RAP (Chris Harrold)
- Consider
our history: Why did we form in the first place, how have we evolved,
and what have we accomplished? COMPLETED AT SEPTEMBER MEETING
- Consider
the current regional research environment, how it’s
changed from our beginnings, and where it might go. COMPLETED AT
SEPTEMBER MEETING
- Understand
the needs and expectations of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
and the National Marine Sanctuary Program as they relate to the RAP.
CONTINUE AT NOVEMBER MEETING
- Understand
the needs and expectations of institutions that are represented
on the RAP, as they relate to the RAP. (You received a survey from
Andrew to help with this. Also, RAP members will share the perspective
of their respective institutions. Try to keep your institution’s
needs separate from your own needs, which we solicit in the next
item.)
- Understand
the needs and expectations of the individuals who sit on the RAP,
as they relate to the RAP. (RAP members will share their own perspectives
on what they expect from the RAP and what they expect to bring to
the RAP.)
- Given
1-5 above, re-examine the current stated purpose and goals of the
RAP. Is it still relevant, important and useful? If not, how can
we revise it? (We need to hear from everyone.)
- Put
strategies in place that directly lead to accomplishing the purpose
and goals of the RAP (e.g., meeting strategies, membership, tasks,
etc.).

Directions
to: Hopkins Marine Station
From
the North:
- Hwy
1 South through Marina, Fort Ord, Seaside, and Sand City.
- Just
after you see the Embassy Suites high-rise hotel on your left and
a large beachfront hotel on your right, take the exit for
Pacific Grove Del Monte Avenue (Note that this is NOT the first Del Monte
exit you will see as you are driving south on Hwy 1).
- Proceed
on Del Monte past the Naval Post Graduate School and into Monterey.
- Shortly
after you pass the wharf on the right the road will fork. Take
the right fork (Lighthouse) and go through the tunnel staying
in the right lane.
- Shortly
after you exit the tunnel there will be a fork on the right for
Foam Street. Take
Foam Street (one way) until it dead ends at David Street.
- Turn
right on David Street. The Monterey Bay Aquarium will be right
in front of you. You will immediately come to a four way Stop.
- Turn
left onto Ocean View Blvd. As you drive along Hopkins
Marine Station is on your right, across from the American Tinnery Outlet
Mall.
- If
you go too far, the only thing on your right will be the recreational
trail and the ocean.
