PRESENTATION
MLML Development and Sustainable Fisheries in Moss Landing (Kenneth Coale/MLML)
- Kenneth gave an overview of the following:
- Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML) Research;
- Decommissioning of R/V Pt Sur in 2011 and competition for new UNOLS vessel;
- Plans for use and development of MLML properties;
- Promoting and marketing sustainable fisheries at newly acquired property (Del Mar Seafoods);
- Promoting environmental literacy through the CSU Council on Ocean Affairs Science and Technology (COAST)
The First Five Years of Ecological and Socioeconomic Monitoring in the Channel Islands Marine Protected Areas Network (Satie Airamé /PISCO at UCSB)
DISCUSSION ITEMS
SAC Meeting Debrief (Chris Harrold and Lisa Wooninck/MBNMS)
- Chris gave a brief overview of the MBNMS's decision to move forward with the process to propose MPAs in federal waters of the MBNMS
- At the June SAC meeting, Lisa Wooninck presented a planning process for moving ahead, including 16 concepts
- Paul Michel is requesting feed-back on these process concepts by July 15, 2008
- Chris provided the RAP with the concepts (email and at meeting), and requested feedback; RAP members provided comments at the meeting
- Action - RAP members can submit other comments via email
SIMoN Web Updates (Josh Pederson/SIMoN)
- Josh presented updates to the SIMoN website, including the new regional SIMoN webpages (includes Cordell Bank, Gulf of the Farallones, and Monterey Bay NMS)

- Josh also presented the IOOS Observation Registry website (described as "A phone book of Observation Platforms"); includes ~750 non-federal platforms; working towards incorporating federal assets

RAP Membership Update: Vacant Seats (Chris Harrold)
- Nominations for three open seats are currently being reviewed by the Selection Committee [RAP Chair (Harrold), volunteer RAP member (Storlazzi), Research Coordinator (DeVogelaere), Superintendent (Michel), and SAC Chair (Harrold)]

- The Deep-Sea Ecology alternate seat remains open without a viable nomination
