Review
And Acceptance Process
- Applicants
must request acceptance into the MBNMS Community Sponsorship Program
in writing to the MBNMS Superintendent.
- Applicants
may discuss their potential sponsorship with the MBMS Foundation Executive
Director, the Sanctuary Advisory Council (SAC) Chair or individual
members of the SAC, discussing with them how their sponsorship might
benefit ongoing educational and research activities within the MBNMS.
These individuals may then relay their recommendations to the MBNMS
Superintendent as to whether or not such a sponsorship shall be granted
in that case, and under what conditions, such as length of time for
each particular sponsor.
- The
MBNMS Superintendent will inform the MBNMS SAC Chair of each Community
Sponsorship that is being considered before it is awarded. The SAC
Chair may request any particular Sponsorship be held up until the
full SAC can consider the request at its next meeting and render the
MBNMS Superintendent their advice.
- The
MBNMS Superintendent shall sign a letter of agreement with any approved
sponsor, and send the letter to them for signature and return. The
letter of agreement shall outline all rights, responsibilities and
constraints in use of the Sponsorship.
Appeal
Process
Any applicant that is refused participation in the MBNMS Community
Sponsorship Program by the MBNMS Superintendent, shall have the right
to appeal that decision to the Division Chief, NOAA Sanctuaries and
Reserves Division (SRD).
All decisions
regarding appeals by the SRD Chief shall be final.
Use
of Donations
Any funds generated by the MBNMS Community Sponsorship Program shall
only be used by the Federal Government and the MBMS Foundation in conformity
with its goals of supporting the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
Program.
