ABSTRACT

This report summarizes 3 aerial surveys of Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) at roost sites within central and northern California National Marine Sanctuaries during the fall of 1998, 1999, and 2000. This report provides information as required under permit numbers GFNMS/MBNMS-20-98 and GFNMS/MBNMS 2000-02-M allowing low altitude overflights through the sanctuaries granted to Crescent Coastal Research. These surveys were conducted as a component of American Trader oilspill restoration activities and to provide California Dept. of Fish and Game with current information on Brown Pelican roost habitat and locations.
