Sanctuary Tourism and Recreation Working Group (STAR)
The Sanctuary Advisory Council (AC) unanimously voted in support of creating a ‘Recreation and Tourism Subcommittee’ at the December 2013 meeting. The working group was voted to become a working group at the April 2017 meeting. The aim of this group is to help support our shared goals of:
- improving sanctuary awareness;
- cross-promoting a myriad of recreation & tourism adventures available;
- adding value to local businesses seeking broader marketing strategies by highlighting their unique proximity to a national marine sanctuary.
One of the popular mechanisms to meet the above goals is the development of bi-monthly newsletters. You can access past issues (as pdf’s) here:

This working group is comprised of SAC members who have a direct linkage to the tourism and recreation industry, a strong connectivity to area business, a history of positive cross promotion opportunities for the constituency they represent, and a willingness to contribute to the working group in a meaningful and productive way.
