The Sanctuary Exploration Center is a unique and dynamic venue to host your special event or meeting. With its excellent location across from the Santa Cruz Wharf, steps from the Beach Boardwalk, and walking distance to countless accommodations and restaurants, your guests will have easy access to many amenities.

Hours and Availability

The SEC is open for private events Monday through Sunday from 8:30am to 10:00pm. The SEC's Exhibit Hall public operating hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Exhibit Hall and lobbies are not available for private events during public operating hours.

Available every day. The Classroom includes a projector, white board, and wireless internet. Seven 3’x6’ tables and 60 chairs are available for use inside. The adjacent Patio outside, undressed, is included with classroom rental.

The Classroom is 800 square feet and can accommodate up to 60 individuals seated in rows. The Outdoor Courtyard is 600 square feet. Maximum standing capacity of the combined areas is 120 persons.

Second Floor – Exhibit Hall

image of main theater at SECAvailable Monday and Tuesday, and off hours Wednesday through Sunday. The Exhibits Hall and associated interactive Fly-Thru Theater is a unique space for mixers, receptions or presentations. The Observation Deck, undressed, overlooks the Monterey Bay and is included with Exhibits Hall rental.

Maximum standing capacity in the Exhibits Hall is 150 people including a maximum seated capacity in the Theater of 60.
