Northern elephant seal

Some sandy beaches in the sanctuary are used as resting and breeding areas for the Northern elephant seal. Elephant seals can be viewed from November through July at Ano Nuevo State Reserve (north of Santa Cruz) and Piedras Blancas in San Simeon.
